TourFactory Virtual Home Tour #584005

Many different sources were used for this article. I hope you find it both interesting and helpful.

When choosing a theme or style for decorating your home, there are many to pick from. One of the most popular decorating themes today is country home decorating. Perhaps it is the most popular because it provides an inviting atmosphere and overall friendly feeling. Country home decorating, because of its cosy environment, is enjoyed by the people who live there as well as all those who visit.

As with any home decorating project, a homeowner must first decide where they want to use country home decorating. Some people choose to use this theme throughout their entire home while other decide to use country home decorating focusing on just one or two rooms, for example the kitchen and the living room. Because this style is meant for people who enjoy simplicity and the nature, some homeowners may decide to carry the country decorating theme through the entire living space.

Country home decorating combines colors which are clean and bright with country furniture and accessories. When choosing colors for country home decorating, light to medium shades of white, yellow, pink, green or brown are good choices. Colors should reflect a rustic feeling. To add to the painted walls, a homeowner or decorator may decide to use stencils with country character such as flowers or plants, fruits or vegetables. Wallpaper boarders are also often used in country home decorating. It is fine to use these additions but the rule of thumb is to make certain the patterns do not clash.

In keeping with a rustic and simple theme, country home decorating uses wood, natural wood. When deciding on a material for a country floor, natural wood is a nice choice. Of course using natural wood throughout a large area can be costly. If looking for a less-expensive way to give floors a country look, a light shade of carpet might be considered or laminate flooring. These options would also work well with the country home decorating theme. Other suggestions for country floors are flagstone or tile. Some homeowners, if they are really creative, decorate their floors with stencils and create patterns. Another great way to jazz up a space is to use area rugs. In keeping with the country home decorating theme, those with an authentic look create a warm and cozy feeling. Hooked, quilted and braided rugs make beautiful additions to a country floor.

In addition when choosing furniture to compliment country home decorating, light wood or wicker is suggested. Again, these materials reflect the beauty of nature. If a homeowner or decorator decides fabric would accent their furniture, such as cushions or slip covers, floral patterns or checkered fabrics add to the authentic look.

After all, accessorizing a room always adds to its beauty. When buying accessories to fit in with a country home decorating theme, it is good to keep in mind the type of atmosphere you are trying to create, a warm and inviting space. Simplicity goes a long way in country home decorating. It is recommended to never use too many decorations and choose accessories that family and friends will enjoy. Photos in simple wooden frames, plain mirrors, plants and fragrant candles dress up country home decorating. Window treatments should also be simple. Lace or shutters give a cozy country feel. Country home decorating can be interesting and fun. Perhaps the main detail to keep in mind is simplicity. Try not to over-decorate, remember too many patterns will clash. Too many decorations will eliminate the amount of space in a room. Country home decorating creates a relaxing and friendly environment, meant to be warm and cozy.

So that’s the information I have on that subject. I hope it was helpful and you were able to get something out of it.

Dining Area – Home Decor Tips For the Homeowner

Home decor can be quite tricky for the new homeowner. He will have to decide on many things including what color to choose, what material to go for, what shape to pick, which design is best and what style to buy. Any of these choices will impact on the look of the room or hall in which the furniture or decorative pieces are placed. So how does a homeowner go about choosing his home décor furnishings? We take a look at a less common home furnishing item – the dining table and provide ways in which they can be made to look glamorous.

The dining table is less conspicuous than the sofa or settee but they can make the room look elegant or dull by their design. Dining tables come in various shapes. Some are round, others rectangular. There are even oval ones. If you have a small room, the round one will do as it takes less space with large number of people. A large family with a big room will need the rectangular which allows more seating, formal decoration, and linear placement of tableware. This shape is also easier to decorate.

Do not forget about the surface of the table in your home decor. For decoration, you can place vases, or other attractive pieces. You can cover the table with white embroidery mats for special elegant effects. You can also have folded white napkins in between the plates.

Potted plants also make excellent dining table decor. You can use live or artificial plants. Soft fabrics make the room look romantic and cozy ambiance. Unique chandeliers will create a banquet atmosphere for the dinning room. Choose from long, sparkling type for special effects. Lastly, try silverware with fruits and vegetables.

The dining table can add to your home decor as effectively as your living room chairs. Paying attention to it will complete your decoration for a beautiful home.

Country Home Decor – Easy to Achieve in Small Rooms With Little Money and a Bit of Imagination

To achieve the country home decor look you need the right colors, accessories and materials. These are not expensive to acquire or purchase at all. In fact, there are probably many fixtures and elements you have put on the side over the years (in your basement or garage most probably) that would help create that fantastic country home decor look you so want to achieve.

If you want to have this look in a small room, do not be afraid of packing it with comfy furniture and pretty pieces that would give you oceans of charm and character. Natural, woven materials team with plain white armchairs, while pretty curtains and colorful paintwork can add an airy, feminine feel.

Pastels are perfect in any room and would give it a French country home decor touch. Paint the walls with a pale green shade, while a nice old looking bookcase and the fire place could be painted with a more minty-green color. Place cream or soft honey color furniture in the room for a great overall effect. A mix of cream covered armchairs and wicker furniture could fill any room for a relaxed, country feel. Why not have the TV stand on an old wicker hamper? Place a basket to hold newspapers and take advantage of any distressed chest of drawers (or any other furniture of the type) to place it in the room in which you want to add the rustic country home decor feel.

Give your fireplace a coat of white paint to brighten it up and help it fit in with the breezy scheme. Add a new wooden fire surround in the same minty-green as the bookcase. This would help provide space for a random selection of cards and photos that add color. If you place a large mirror above the fireplace it will help the room feel bigger.

Inexpensive wood laminated flooring can be laid in the room, instantly making it look neat and creating a hard-wearing, neutral background. Its wood effect could suit a the country scheme, and is also hygienic and easy to clean. Just get out your dustpan and brush.

For country home decorations use materials that will make the rooms feel homely and warm. Junk shops are great places to go to as they will have lots of fixtures and elements for you to choose from at very affordable prices. Look in country home decor catalogues for a place near you.

TourFactory Virtual Home Tour #587638

For some of us, the term ‘contemporary style decorating’ evokes thoughts of George Jetson and family, scooting through their ultra modernized and automated home. In reality, contemporary home decor, although sleek, clean and smooth, can make a colorful and dramatic design statement that is an interesting blend of textures, colors and elements.

If you enjoy clean lines, smooth surfaces, bold colors and natural elements, contemporary home decor could be the creative lifestyle expression for you. Neutral colors will be your selection for the walls, although a bold accent color or two are appropriate for accent walls if this fits with your overall design scheme. You will, in fact, want to use color to create drama. For example, you may introduce a sofa with a bright solid red fabric as a counterpoint to neutral walls. Your upholstered pieces will not have busy patterns, and in fact, there may not be much pattern in the space, with the exception of a striking area rug or artwork on the wall. To create further contrast in the area, you may decide to use a small amount of black as a dramatic accent.

Although clean lines are indicative of contemporary decor, unique geometric shapes are very much at home in this setting. This could come in the form of sculpture, accent pieces or a one-of-a-kind chair. Complementing these will be the straight lines of the other pieces in the area, such as a Scandinavian style sofa. The accent pieces such as coffee tables and end tables may be wood based with stainless steel or chrome accents, and of course will be clean and sleek lined. The wood tone that is selected, whether light, dark or something in-between, will be carried through the area for consistency.

You will use materials such as metal, chrome and stainless steel throughout the area as an accent element. Ideally, there will be bold architectural details, with soaring windows and high angled walls. Your flooring may be wood, tile or a textured carpet such as a Berber to complement the contemporary decor. Using a textured wall covering is another element of interest that can be added to the space.

Lighting is an essential element to contemporary style decorating and should be selected carefully. A room’s focal point is often highlighted with the use of track lighting. As with other elements in the room, light fixtures will have clean lines, may have bold colors and be constructed from a type of metal such as stainless steel or chrome.

As you are selecting colors, textures, furniture and accessories for the area, it is critical to remember that with contemporary decor there is never a feeling of messiness or overcrowding. Each piece and element has a drama of its own, and should be appreciated without distraction. If you think that adding one more element to the area might be too much, you’re probably right. Err to the “less is more” philosophy of decorating and you will be fine.

Your completed contemporary space will reflect the smooth, sleek, refined, uncluttered, dramatic look that defines your lifestyle (or not, but it may relieve the stress of the hectic days!) In any event, enjoy your contemporary style surroundings.

Seven Secrets Of Awesome Home Decorating

Two identical houses sit side by side, walk into one and you feel comfortable and welcome.Walk into the second house and you feel ugh – uncomfortable? The people in both houses are friendly, the type of people you would like to get to know better.

What’s the difference?

The difference is the way the houses are talking about their occupants. The first house is decorated nicely and your eyes flow smoothly from place to place giving you that warm fuzzy feeling.

In the second house nothing flows together. Your eyes are constantly being stopped by an out of place window treatment or “thingie” that just doesn’t belong where it’s placed. This gives you an uncomfortable feeling – Do I really want to be here?

Here is a list of seven secrets of awesome home decorating the will give your home that warm fuzzy feeling:

Secret #1. Don’t Sweat The Cost!

The reason I put “don’t sweat the cost” as the first secret is because that’s the number one reason I have heard through the years that people don’t decorate. It’s too expensive!

That’s about as far from the truth as you can get. In my thirty plus years of decorating, some of the best decorated homes were the ones that the owners spent hardly any money. Money is not the cure all for awesome decorating.

I have seen far too many homes where they spared no cost and decorated to the hilt. The result was a show place that you couldn’t be comfortable in if you cared to try.

Some of the greatest decorating treasures are in your mind – outside of the box – or down the street at the thrift store or “Good Will”.

Secret #2. Decorate For Your Family!

Decorating should be meaningful. You want to showcase the talents and hobbies of your family. If your family is into sports, then what ever sport they are into should be the focal point of your decorating, especially in the family room or what ever room you spend the most time in.
The most important people who will ever be in your home is your family. Flaunt them and show all your visitors and friends what you’re about as a family.

Secret #3. Get the Family Involved In the Decorating

When the family is involved in the decorating project you create family memories that will last lifetimes and be talked about at family gatherings for years to come.

When the family is not involved in the decorating they resent the intrusion into their space and will throw little “monkey wrenches” into the project to show their resentment.

Secret #4. Go Style Shopping as a Family!

Don’t know what style or theme you want your next decorating project to be? Make it a family fun decision. Go style shopping with your family, ending up in a favorite place for desert or snack and discuss what your project will look like and say about your family.

Secret #5. Over Spend Not!

You could have the best looking house in the neighborhood but if you over spent on decorating and your family is feeling the pinches for doing so you will resent the beautiful surrounding.

Your resentment will show in how you take care of the room as well as your attitude about the room. This attitude will spill over and your house will lose that warm cozy feeling that is portrayed by those living there.

Secret #6. Keep It Simple!

Have you ever been to a house where it was decorated to such a degree that you felt uncomfortable? You don’t know where to sit because you don’t want to disturb the starched look. Not only do you not want to disturb the look you couldn’t feel comfortable if you tried. You sit on the end of the chair hoping you don’t wrinkle the fabric.

I know you have been to a place like that, so have I, far too many times. You just want to get out of there so you can relax.

Keep it simple and comfortable!

Secret #7. Have Fun with Your Decorating!

Let your humor show through. A couple of pillows with your favorite sayings will liven up a room in short order. If it looks starchy to you it will look 10 times more starchy to your visitors and friends.

Decorating should be fun and exciting. What you decorate today you will replace with a new “thingie” tomorrow. Have fun with your decorating and your humor and good taste will speak volumes about you and your family to visitors and friends.

Many homeowners plunge into decorating their domiciles without a clue as to what the end result ought to be. Too often this lack of planning leads to a hodgepodge of home furnishings, when a little thought would have created a beautiful and inviting home. When decorating your home, it is most important to consider what kind of design might best suit your home.

Urban dwellers often find that the contemporary style with its sleek, clean lines and bold colors best suits their modern apartments since they emphasize simplicity and spaciousness. On the other hand, those who dwell in buildings with some historic charm can draw inspiration from period designs.

One of the popular decor styles today is known as Steampunk, a design that mixes such Victorian features as lace doilies and fabrics in floral prints with lots of brass and artwork made with gears, cogs and keys representing the Industrial Age. In fact, many homeowners who favor Steampunk think of themselves as the “new antiquarians,” straddling the present practical age with a bygone romantic era.

Another popular decor designs today that has stemmed from our increased consciousness of the environment is a trend known as Shabby Chic. This decor makes good use of the environmental movement by focusing on home furnishing elements that are re-purposed, reused and recycled. Secondhand stores are popular sources for this type of decor but the found items aren’t refurbished to look new. Instead they are cherished for every nick and dent, symbols of today’s effort toward home sustainability.

Some home decor styles are clearly influenced by their geography. The Pueblo style, for example, makes strong use of the adobe-brick building techniques of the American Southwest, combined with the strong geometric patterns and vivid primary colors of Native American art and fabrics. Add dashes of Spanish influence from colonial times and you have a truly distinctive decor.

These are just a few of the home decor options that you can use to turn a ho-hum home into a dazzling domicile.

Believe it or not you have what it takes to do your own home decorating. All it takes is a little knowledge and some guided know – how and you are on your way.

To make this system even more fun, recruit a friend or family member to help.

So get your paper and pencil ready, grab you decorating buddy and let’s get started with this home decorating made simple, 2 step strategy.

This strategy works best when you choose one room at a time and then finish it completely before getting started on another. By trying to take on too many rooms too quickly will cause you to feel overwhelmed and exhausted before you even get started. Take your time with 1 room at a time, approaching it as if it is your only room in the house.

Step number 1 to Home Decorating Made Simple:

Leave the furniture, but everything else in the room needs to be removed. Remove all your personal items. That means everything; pictures, linens, area rugs, pillows, electronics, lamps, artwork, books, silk flower arrangements and throws. Everything must go – even your window treatments, if they are not too elaborate.

Step Number 2 to Home Decorating Made Simple:

Now that there is nothing left in the the room but your basic furniture. Stand at each corner of the almost bare room and really take a look at the space. Take notice of what you see, and more importantly what you do not see. Think about trying new angles for the furniture, a diagonal placement or pulling that sofa away from the wall? Maybe you will want to get rid of a few pieces of furniture that no longer fit or simply clutter up the space.

Be open at this point to:

- Give the room a fresh coat of paint. If not the entire wall how about 1 accent wall or a new color for your window sills and base boards.

- Leave out more of the stuff you removed rather than filling up every nook and cranny again

- Introduce a few new accents that will pull out different colors from the furniture fabrics or favorite painting.

Now, with the room down to the basics it’s time to “see” those fresh possibilities and its renewed decorating potential.

Once you’ve spent some time using your empty room as a muse, grab a paper and pencil and begin making a list of possible room changes. What other items can be relocated into different rooms in the home, exchange one for the other, remove and reuse to home decorating made simple with dazzle.

5337 War Admiral Dr, Wesley Chapel FL 33544

In today’s fast-paced society, it’s sometimes difficult to achieve balance in life. All too often, we spend countless hours at the office and more hours commuting or chauffeuring our kids to and from after school activities. We wired to the max, with our cell phones, our BlackBerrys, our computers, and our iPods always within arm’s reach. We pride ourselves on our ability to multitask, but somewhere in the process, our ability to simply relax and enjoy life gets lost. One of the best ways to get back on track and bring balance into our lives is to use home decor to transform our houses into our sanctuaries.

The inevitable question is, Who has time for home décor? But think about it for a moment. Work may bring feelings of accomplishment, but it probably doesn’t refresh your spirit. When you make your home a priority, it becomes a place of respite, a place that helps rejuvenate your body and your soul. When you make a few simple changes, you’ll feel a greater connection with your home environment. When you do that, you may find that your desire to multitask diminishes, and you just might turn off the electronic gadgets and simply enjoy your surroundings with those you love.

e first step in using home decor to enhance your house is to take the time to inventory each room in your house. This isn’t a furniture inventory, or a count of the number of clocks or lamps you own, but an emotional inventory. Take a notebook and a pen (or your PDA) from room to room, and jot down how you feel in each room. When you walk into the kitchen, do you feel energized, or do your shoulders sag? Does your bedroom make you feel as though you’ve walked into a safe haven, or does it feel sterile and uninviting?

Next, take an emotional inventory of your outdoor space. Is the front yard a place you rush through to get to the front door? Does your patio make you feel relaxed, or is it simply additional storage space? Does your backyard conjure up feelings of community and sharing, or does it represent the yard work that you never get around to doing?

Once you have completed your emotional inventory, begin thinking about the small things you can do that will change the tone of each room and of your outdoor space. Perhaps bath lotions and candles will make your bathroom feel more luxurious. Maybe well-placed mirrors will give a small apartment a more spacious and less suffocating feel. Picture frames with photos of family and friends will warm up any room, as will decorative plant stands with houseplants.

When it comes to the outdoors, the possibilities are endless. You can choose to do major landscaping, or you can add simple things like bird feeders you can see from your kitchen window or bird houses that are visible from the living room window. Hammocks in the backyard absolutely invite relaxation, while wind chimes can calm even the most frazzled nerves. By taking an emotional inventory of your living space and adding simple home decor items, your home will become your sanctuary and you will feel the same connection with your environment that you may feel with your personal electronics.
